Freshman Convocation

A Freshman Convocation is a traditional ceremony, often held at the start of the academic year, that marks the official welcome and induction of new students into the university community, often including speeches from university leaders and faculty. The dress code for students is casual.

Purpose:
The convocation serves as a formal and celebratory event to welcome new students, acknowledge their arrival, and introduce them to the university's values, traditions, and community. It provides an excellent opportunity to connect and network with other new students.

Participants:
The ceremony typically involves new students, faculty, administrators, student leaders, and sometimes distinguished speakers.

Elements:
A typical convocation might include:
•    Speeches from the university chancellor, the provost, and other key figures.
•    Introductions of faculty and staff.
•    A class photo.
