Wellness Center & Natatorium Policies

Entry Procedures for the Wellness Center and Natatorium

All patrons will be screened prior to entering the facilities. The screening will include:

  • A series of COVID- 19-related questions, including:
    • Any contact (within 6 ft. for 10 minutes or longer) with suspected or confirmed COVID-19-positive individual within the last 14 days
    • Traveled out of the country within the last 14 days, including on cruise ships
    • Traveled domestically within the last 14 days, specifically to New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or New Orleans
    • Had a cough or flu-like symptoms
    • Felt feverish or experiencing chills in the last 48 hours
    • Nausea, persistent headache or new onset migraine § Sudden onset of decreased or lack of smell and/or taste
    • Gastrointestinal symptoms, specifically diarrhea and lack of appetite
If the answer to any of these questions is YES, patrons will be denied access to the facilities and will be asked to return home and not return for 48 hours.
  • Temperature screening
  • 100.4 degrees or above will not be allowed access into the facility.
  • Completion of the COVID19 Informed Consent (first-time entry only)
  • The use of a face covering upon entry is recommended.
Please note: For the health and wellbeing of all patrons, completion of all components of the entry screening process is mandatory. If any part is not completed, access to the Wellness Center and Natatorium will be denied.

Polices While Using the Wellness Center

In addition to the screening process, policies and procedures include:

  • Every person coming to exercise MUST check in at the Wellness Center desk PRIOR to exercising. 
  • Facility usage will be limited to members only.
  • Masks are to be worn at all times a person is not exercising.  This includes upon entry into the facility, gathering equipment that will be used, in the locker rooms and exiting the facility. Masks are also to be worn if 6 foot social distancing is not able to be maintained. An example of this would be spotting during a lift. 
  • Usage will be on a first-come, first-served basis, up to 32 people in the fitness area and 7 people in the studio.
  • Towel service will not be available; however, guests may bring their own towels.
  • Water fountains are to be used for refilling water bottles only.
  • The sauna and showers will not be accessible.
  • As always, members must disinfect equipment used before and after use.
  • Members should wash hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water before and after working out.
  • Physical distancing must be maintained at all times throughout the facility.
  • Hand sanitizer stations are located at the front entrance/studio space, Wellness Center desk and Cardiac Rehab area.
  • A face covering is recommended but not required while exercising.
    • When choosing not to use a face covering strict adherence to 6 foot physical distancing is required.
  • Disinfecting spray bottles and a cleaning towel will be given to each member upon entry to the facility to be used to disinfect equipment throughout exercise session.
  • Group Fitness classes resume September 8, 2020. Reservations are required to attend classes through IMLeagues. Fitness on Demand classes continue to be available. Group fitness classes are suspended until further notice and will resume after careful evaluation.
  • Enhanced cleaning measures will be scheduled.

Policies While using the Natatorium

In addition to the screening process, policies and procedures include:

  • Facility usage will be limited to members only.
    • This also includes punch pass holders for water aerobics.
  • Usage will be on a reservation basis, with a maximum of one person per lane during lap swim, unless swimmers reside in the same household.
  • Water fountains are to be used for refilling water bottles only.
  • The showers will not be accessible.
  • Members should wash hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water before and after working out.
  • Physical distancing must be maintained at all times throughout the facility.
  • Hand sanitizer stations are located at the front entrance/studio space, Wellness Center desk and Cardiac Rehab area.
  • A face covering is recommended but not required while exercising.

Water Aerobics and Synchronized Swimming Classes

Water Aerobics will take place on Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday/Friday from 9:15 am - 10 am. Synchronized Swimming will take place on Thursdays from 2-3pm. Classes are limited to 10 participants. Reservations are required on IMLeagues


Reserving Space in the Natatorium
  • Reservations will need to be made in order to use the Natatorium.
    • Each reservation will begin at the top of the hour and be allowed for 45 minutes.
    • The last 15 minutes of each hour, lifeguards will clean the spaces in the Natatorium to prepare for incoming swimmers.
  • Reservations will be made using the IMLeagues app or the IMLeagues website or call the Natatorium during operating hours at 803-641-3431.
    • Members will be able to make a reservation up to five days in advance.
    • Members can access this app themselves to make a reservation.
    • Members can make a reservation when in the Natatorium.
  • Swimmers without reservations may use the Natatorium as space and time permit upon their arrival.
  • For Water Aerobics and Synchronized Swimming, select Classes under Facility Reservations.  

The mission of Campus Recreation and Wellness is to connect, educate, and inspire the campus community to lead a balanced healthy lifestyle through exceptional facilities, programs and services. This area consists of the Wellness Center, Natatorium, Intramurals and Club Sports.

The Wellness Center seeks to provide safe, well-equipped facilities and trained, caring staff to the campus and Aiken Community. Located in the lower level of Business and Education Building, the Center is open seven days a week, housing a cardiovascular and strength training area, an aerobics room, an exercise testing laboratory, an educational room and locker room facilities.

The Natatorium is adjoining the Student Activities Center. The pool is open seven days a week for lifeguard-supervised activities including lap swimming, water aerobics, recreational activities, and pool party rentals. A competitive swim league also trains at the Natatorium. Locker room facilities are available.

Become a Member

Intramurals consists of competitive and noncompetitive activities that students can engage in to stay physically active. The program is designed to offer a variety of challenging and enjoyable activities to every member of the student body. Activities include vigorous team sports such as flag football, soccer, volleyball and basketball; competitive individual events such as table tennis and pool tournaments; and non-competitive recreational activities.

Register for Intramural Sports

Club Sports are considered a student organization and bring in the atmosphere of competition against other campuses across the region. USC Aiken has eight club sport organizations including three styles of equestrian, shotgun, swim club, and ping pong club. Clubs can be created by any student at USC Aiken with an interest in a specific competitive event.
