Scholarships

Art & Art History Program

The Art and Art History Program offers merit and need-based scholarships. Scholarships for the next academic year are awarded during the spring semester. Students must submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application in order to receive need-based scholarships. Other criteria outlined below applies.

Aiken Artist Guild Art Scholarship 

The Aiken Artist Guild Art Scholarship is awarded by the Art and Art History faculty to a B.A. in Art major at any grade level. The awardee must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA and be enrolled full-time each semester as a B.A. in Art major. This scholarship is not renewable.

Joyce Harmon Peters Studio Art Scholarship 

The Joyce Harmon Peters Studio Art Scholarship is awarded to a B.A. in Art major showing proficiency and progress in the study of ceramics. Recipients must be a citizen of the United States. Recommendations come from Art and Art History faculty and the department. Recipients must enroll full-time each semester as a B.A. in Art major. This scholarship is renewable.

Thomas F. Maurice Memorial Scholarship

The Thomas F. Maurice Memorial Scholarship is awarded to students stating interest in Interdisciplinary Studies or Fine Arts. Recipients must enter with a 1100 SAT score (or greater or its equivalent) or continuing students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Recommendations come from the Visual and Performing Arts faculty. Recipients must enroll full-time each semester in their program of study. This scholarship is not renewable.

UofSC Aiken Art Scholarship

The UofSC Aiken Art Scholarship is awarded by the Art and Art History faculty to a B.A. in Art major. Final recommendation from the Chair of the Visual and Performing Arts Department is needed. Recipients must enroll full-time each semester in their program of study. This scholarship is not renewable.

Boyd Saunders Art Scholarship 

The Boyd Saunders Art Scholarship is awarded by the Art and Art History faculty to Visual and Performing Arts majors. In addition to documented financial need, recipients must enroll full-time each semester in their program of study. This scholarship is renewable.

Geoffrey & Arlene King Art Scholarship

The Geoffrey & Arlene King Art Scholarship is awarded by the Art and Art History faculty to B.A. in Art majors. Only available to sophomores, juniors or seniors. Recipients must have at least a 3.0 GPA in previous academic year and enroll full-time each semester as a B.A. in Art major. This scholarship is renewable.

UofSC Aiken Art Faculty Scholarship 

The UofSC Aiken Art Faculty Scholarship is awarded by the Art and Art History faculty to B.A. in Art majors. In addition to documented financial need, recipients must maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher and enroll full-time each semester as a B.A. in Art major. This scholarship is renewable.

Livio Orazio Valentini and Partners-in-Friendship Study Abroad Scholarship

The Livio Orazio Valentini and Partners-in-Friendship Study Abroad Scholarship is awarded to a B.A. in Art major, who is selected by a committee chaired by Dr. Jeremy Culler to participate in a six-week Archaeology Field School in Orvieto, Italy. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 GPA and take ARTH A399 during the duration of the study abroad. Applications are required and this scholarship is not renewable. Applications are typically due every September.
