Served the CSRA in South Carolina from 1993 - 2011
The project began as a Statewide Systemic Intiative (SSI) grant funded thtrough the National Science Foundation in partnership with the South Carolina Department of Education. The SSI provided leadership and services to schools and districts in the areas of mathematics and science. Thirteen hubs across South Carolina were established with the Ruth Patrick Science Education Center being the first and the model for the others.
After NSF Funding, the project was funded through the SC State Department of Education. The SSI was reconfigured and the Central Savannah River Area Mathematics and Science Regional Center (CSRA MSRC) became one of eight centers sponsored by the Mathematics and Science Unit of the South Carolina Department of Education.
Professional Learning at the Ruth Patrick Science Education Center
With the ending of funding through the SC Department of Education, Professional Learning is being conducted in the CSRA through the Ruth Patrick Science Education Center. Schools and districts working through the RPSEC Prefessional Learning will receive the same high quality professional development and will recognize familiar faces in the excellent Professional Learning staff at the RPSEC.
