University of South Carolina Aiken alumni Jason Crane and Gerry Owen have pledged a $25,000 gift to the School of Business Administration to create an endowed scholarship supporting students intending to major in accounting or finance.
With the gift, The Jason K. Crane and Gerry L. Owen Endowed Business Scholarship will be established to provide an annual award of about $1,000 to a rising junior or senior who is a full-time, degree-seeking student at USCA.
Jason Crane and Gerry Owen, co-founders and owners of Crane & Owen Financial Solutions in Aiken, are both proud alumni of the University of South Carolina Aiken. Crane earned his bachelor’s degree in political science in 2006, while Owen graduated in 1996 with a degree in business administration. Since then, both have actively served on various university boards and continue to play a significant role in the local community.
“We are incredibly grateful and proud of the education we received at the University of South Carolina Aiken. That solid foundation has allowed us to achieve success in our careers and other endeavors,” Crane and Owen said. “Starting an endowed business scholarship at USCA to support others in accomplishing the type of success we have achieved is one way we can show our appreciation.”
USCA students must have a documented financial need and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and intend to major in accounting or finance to be eligible to receive the scholarship. Preference will be given to a student who participates in community service or an extracurricular activity at USCA.
