Summer Financial Aid
Financial aid for USC Aiken summer sessions requires the current year FAFSA and a separate USC Aiken summer school financial aid application. The application is available on Self Service Carolina (SSC) beginning April 1. Because of the compressed time frames for the summer, our office must adhere to application deadlines. The priority application deadline to complete the application is May 15. The Summer Financial Aid Application will be removed from SSC on May 15.
To be considered for most aid, you must be enrolled at least half time. This equates to six hours over all summer sessions. On occasion, there may be limited funding for need-based awards. Students who apply early for summer aid are automatically considered for these awards until funds are no longer available. Financial aid available for summer school is extremely limited.
- If you have Federal Direct Loan eligibility for the academic year and you use all of that eligibility in the Fall and Spring semesters, there will be no Direct Loan available to use for summer sessions.
- If you have Federal Pell Grant eligibility for the academic year and you enroll full-time in the Fall and Spring semesters, there may be Pell Grant available to use for summer sessions. If you enroll part-time during the Fall or Spring semester, you may have additional Pell Grant available for summer sessions. Pell Grant eligibility for the summer term requires at least six hours of enrollment.
- You may apply for private educational loans to use for summer enrollment. For our office to process a summer private loan, you must complete the application process with your lender and submit a USC Aiken summer school financial aid application by the deadline.
- A parent of a dependent student may apply for a Federal Parent Loan (PLUS). The PLUS application should be completed at https://studentloans.gov by the summer deadline. A USC Aiken summer school financial aid application must also be submitted.
Important: If your planned enrollment involves any of the following for the summer, additional information will be requested.
