About the Degree
The Elementary Education Program provides preparation for teaching in public school grades 2-6. Students move through the Elementary Education program as a cohort, taking prescribed courses during sequenced semesters. Each candidate is required to fulfill at least 100 hours of observation/direct teaching at the elementary level prior to their student internship.
Our Elementary Education program values experiences in and out of the classroom. Therefore, our students are active in coursework, research, and scholarship.
Students are provided practical experience with children of different age levels and in different types of public school settings.
At UofSC Aiken, our teacher education programs are fully accredited by the South Carolina Department of Education, the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) as well as the program’s respective professional organizations. Our award winning faculty hold advanced degrees from respected Universities and are experienced classroom teachers and administrators.
