A native of Montréal, Canada, Prof. Gélinas began teaching at USC Aiken in 2008, following teaching positions in Colorado and New York. Currently, he teaches Exercise Physiology (EXSC 323/323L), Nutrition (EXSC 311), Fitness Assessment and Exercise Leadership (EXSC 239), Fitness and Performance Coaching (EXSC 426), Topics in Allied Health (EXSC 440W), and Foundations of Exercise and Sports Science (EXSC 198).
He is a CrossFit Level-1 Trainer and USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach, and has held certifications through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM-PES), the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA-CSCS), and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM-HFI).
Outside of teaching, he enjoys working out, reading, cooking, the great outdoors, and spending time with his two daughters.

Prof. Gélinas’s research interests are varied; however, he is most keenly interested in:
- High-intensity fitness programming for health and performance
- Active transportation and the built environment
- Ancestral health & biologically-appropriate nutritional strategies for optimal health and performance
