USC Aiken Ranked Best for Vets by Military Times

This week, Military Times announced its Best for Vets: Colleges 2017 rankings, which included the University of South Carolina Aiken -- for the third year. USC Aiken is the only South Carolina school making this year’s list and is ranked in the Top 100 universities in the nation. This distinction makes USC Aiken the #1 Best for Vets University in the state.

USC Aiken Graduates Largest Class in History of Institution

The University of South Carolina Aiken Class of 2016, the largest in the history of the institution, graduated today in the USC Aiken Convocation Center. The diverse group of more than 400 graduates included 16 graduate students and eight international students. The countries represented during the annual commencement exercises included: Brazil, Italy, Jamaica, China and Saudi Arabia.

The University of South Carolina Aiken rededicated its Veterans and Military Student Success Center yesterday in a patriotic ceremony at the University’s Spirit Fountain, which featured Medal of Honor Recipient Lieutenant Michael E. Thornton, U.S. Navy, retired, as the keynote speaker.

USC Aiken Welcomes Governor Haley to Sign Veterans Bill

Aiken, SC – The University of South Carolina Aiken is pleased to welcome Governor Nikki Haley to its campus on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 1:30pm, at the Gregg-Graniteville Library for the ceremonial signing of S. Bill 391 which will offer in-state tuition to our veterans. The USC Aiken Veteran and Military Student Success Center (VMSSC) will host the event.

The Military Friendly® Schools designation is awarded to the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace military students, and to dedicate resources to ensure their success in the classroom and after graduation. The methodology used for making the Military Friendly® Schools list has changed the student veteran landscape to one much more transparent, and has played a significant role over the past six years in capturing and advancing best practices to support military students across the country.

Aiken, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken is ranked #1 among top public regional colleges in the South in the 2015 edition of U.S. News & WorldReport’s guide, “America’s Best Colleges.” Since U.S. News & World Report created this ranking category seventeen years ago, the University has been ranked in the top three public regional colleges every year -- totaling seventeen consecutive years. USC Aiken has been ranked first ten times: 2002, 2003, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2015.

Aiken, S.C. – On November 11, 2013, U.S. News & World Report released its inaugural rankings of the Best Colleges for Veterans to help veterans pursue a college education under the Post-9/11 GI Bill. The new rankings provide data and information on schools that offer federal benefits, including tuition and housing assistance, to veterans and active service members. The University of South Carolina Aiken ranked number five in regional colleges in the South.
